Apocalyptic literature and Prophecy - Is it about the "then" or the future?

I guess that Isaiah, Jeremiah and Daniel were pretty poor prophets since they did not adhere to your definition of the word "prophecy" and spoke of the future often, sometimes by hundreds of years.
