Does he care?

my mum recently ped away im 19 my boyfriend 21 im up with family in another state for a while since ive been gone my boyfriend he dont seem to care about me anymore he hardly calls me or texts me i go call him for support about my mum but hes never there for me when im crying over the loss of my mum he tells me he will texts me but he never does i got to text him then half an hr later he will write back he made me cry on the fone he was being rude so i started crying he didnt care about the fact i was crying because he hurt my feelings i love him so much and dont want to break up with him but whys he treating me this way?
